EARLY TREATMENT
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO BEGIN ORTHODONTICS?
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that the initial orthodontic evaluation should occur at the first sign of orthodontic problems or no later than age 7. At this early age, orthodontic treatment may not be necessary, but vigilant examination can anticipate the most advantageous time to begin treatment. In some situations, early intervention prevents serious problems later.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF EARLY ORTHODONTIC EVALUATION?
Early evaluation provides both timely detection of problems and greater opportunity for more effective treatment. When orthodontic intervention is not necessary, an orthodontist can carefully monitor growth and development and begin treatment when it is ideal.
COMPREHENSIVE TREATMENT
By age 12, most if not all of the permanent teeth have erupted and are in place, and treatment needs can easily be detected. These problems will hardly ever correct themselves, so this is when most parents decide to seek orthodontic treatment. Children at this age are growing rapidly, and orthodontists can usually take advantage of these growth spurts to help shape the bite and teeth correctly.
ADULT TREATMENT
Braces aren’t just for kids anymore! Tooth alignment can be changed at any age if your gums and bone structure are healthy. We offer a variety of treatments that are designed for different age groups – including adults. A new smile can begin today.
Orthodontic treatment at later stages in life can dramatically improve the health of your mouth. Crooked teeth and a bad bite can contribute to gum and bone loss, tooth decay, abnormal wear of the tooth enamel and surfaces, headaches and jaw joint (TMJ/TMD) pain.
Types of Braces & Retainers

-
Traditional & Comprehensive Treatment
The most common treatment consists of upper and lower braces or aligners. -
2 Phase Treatment
Planning now can save a smile later! When there is a moderate to severe orthodontic problem that will cause greater issues in the future, early treatment is sometimes necessary. This preventative approach is typically combined with a comprehensive phase at a later date. -
Clear Braces
Within bracketed orthodontic treatments, clear brackets are an option available to you on the upper arch. -
SureSmile
You’ve probably heard that wearing braces is a long term commitment, lasting on average 2 years. With SureSmile, orthodontic treatment is greatly lessened by providing you with a prescription wire made specifically for you and your teeth. This wire moves your teeth more efficiently (not more quickly), using 3-D imaging, robotically created wires, and shape memory.
-
Hybrid Treatment
Every patient has different needs. We are creative in meeting those needs while ensuring your treatment goals are met. Sometimes this means a combination of braces, aligners, or lingual braces. We will meet your needs. -
Invisalign
The Invisalign System is a series of clear aligners and clear attachments—that have been generated by computer simulation to gradually move the teeth. This system is available to adult and adolescent patients with certain orthodontic issues. -
Removable Aligners
Utilizing our in-house 3-D technology, we have the capability to create removable aligners that move your teeth without using brackets and wires. -
Retainers
We have a variety of retainers available to you, including clear Essix retainers made in our office, Hawley retainers, and bonded retainers in combination with removable retainers.
